They’re replacing the windows in my room, so I have to clear out my entire room too (which is way less than an entire house and two sheds) and I have so much stuff that I don’t want anymore and have just never taken the time to get rid of. It’s so satisfying, and I feel so good about myself, every time I deem an object unnecessary and toss it in a give away or throw away bag. So far I think I have three garbage bags full of stuff to give away, and one and a half to throw away—almost all from my tiny little room (which hopefully won’t feel so tiny once I’m done). All those things I don’t want have just been lying dormant in my room, burdening me when they could be bringing others pleasure. And I’m packing for school differently this year. Now that I’m moving into a house, and driving up to Vassar with a bigger car, I’m thinking about what I want in my home and not just what’s necessary for a semester’s worth of survival. It’s feels good.
